Westcountry HR are an Outsourced Human Resources Consultancy covering Exeter, Plymouth, Newton Abbot, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

The business was started in 2016 and Westcountry HR has since gone from strength to strength.  Nicki started the business from her kitchen table, and in July 2017 relocated to her new town centre office in Market Street, Newton Abbot, Devon.

Nicki said “I’m delighted with how well the last 10 months has gone for Westcountry HR. I feel all my hard work over the years has now paid off”.   Previously working as a HR Manager in Exeter and Plymouth, Devon Nicki comes with over 10 year’s experience in the HR sector and she decided to take the leap from employment to self-employment to follow her dreams and hasn’t looked back.  After working in the sector for some years, Nicki wanted to put all the experience she had gained working for FTSE 100 companies into helping small businesses with a service that SMEs can afford”.

Nicki previously worked for many years in the Construction industry having worked for 3 national house builders and also has experience in the Professional Services, Manufacturing, Finance and Estate Agency sectors.

Nicki celebrated the recent opening of the Westcountry HR office in Newton Abbot by holding a small launch event. In attendance were local businesses, friends and the local FSB Chair, together with the Newton Abbot Town Mayor and Town Development ManageHR Consultants Newton Abbot Exeterr.

Sally Henley, Newton Abbot’s Town Development Manager said “It’s great to see a local businesswoman turn what was a dream into reality. Whilst Nicki is currently a ‘one woman band’ at the moment, I would not be surprised if she were to find herself needing to expand quite quickly! Nicki is a prominent member of the local business community and her enthusiasm for business is infectious and I’m delighted that she is now so centrally located within the town.

When asked to summarise the work Westcountry HR undertake, Nicki commented “For the small business, there are a number of advantages to using a HR Consultant. Instead of hiring an internal HR Manager, you can save money by outsourcing it to a HR Consultant like Westcountry HR.  Small businesses will often need HR support, but may not have a HR team. A HR Consultant can offer objective, unbiased employment advice and are best placed to advise on the people management that business owners and managers struggle to deal with.”

Nicki is also founder of #NewtonAbbotHour – Newton Abbot’s own Twitter hour that runs on Wednesdays from 8.30pm – 9.30pm. Now 18 months old, the hour has over 3000 followers. Nicki is also a Committee Member of the Teignbridge FSB (Federation of Small Business)

Nicki has a wealth of HR experience and her USP is her passion for HR and her infectious personality.
